hellos everyone. had been quite long since my last post i guess. rather busy, i've been i guess. internal, external, internal. blah. let's start =)

many interesting bonus photos this time. let me start with the permanent residents.

ah. this is a Goral (in case some people forgot), but my Goralie ^^ this boy was high up on the log. Must be thinkin how he should change or take over the world =) _______________________________________________________________

I was hoping my way to the Capybara's enclosure, initially to check on the water in the pool. Till i noticed this girl actually not moving away from me. and then, i creeped nearer and nearer. Till i noticed. She. is. All. Sound. asle..e..p.

my gawd.

for the (hmm) sixteen months ive worked in Night safari. This is the first time ive seen a Capy actually sound asleep. Absolutely.

Too many enrichments for this guy i guess. He played with them for the first few days and was completely spent. haha. what to do. he's an old guy, afterall. Gave him enrichment again on one particular day and saw him, completely giving up. simply slept his way through. haha. rest well my dear boy ^^

Hehyos. Pretty rare find =) a praying mantis! ah. and he looks really retarded them he faces the camera. keke. but its a really lucky find to say. Hellos, mr mantis. Happy praying ^^

A rather, common sight for keepers. this green little fellow will roam around on stuffs. ended up on a bottle of Neutroplex one day and i saw him. so. here he left memories in my heart =)

Well well well. absolutely had no idea why i am still awake at this time BUT! if you gotta do it, you've gotta give the best. Hence. Ta-da! second experiment done with my capies regarding their preference in tapioca to sweet potato to corn to carrot.

Recalling what happens in my last experiment (please refer to Aug 21's post). The capies were given sweet potato, tapioca, carrots and corn. After a few minutes, sweet potato and tapioca were found completely eaten with carrots plus corn untouched.

Hence! this time, i limited food to only

Explained clearly in step-by-step :

1. Display One



Well, we had an extra apple and a few pieces of jackfruit skin to spare. Hence chopped up two of em and threw in along with the experiment. As labelled, clearly shown the different food i've threw in.

2. Display One







Here Capy comes in. And along the photos, Capy is seen obviously moving towards sweet potato. And ATE IT!

3. Display Two



i then, switched the position of both tapioca and sweet potato. And release capy again.

4. Display Two



And dear dear Capy seems to be following the same route. And have no dislike whatsoever to tapioca.

5. Display Three



After, apple was placed in position of tapioca and sweet potato. Capy initially when for similar. But sniffed, realised its not any of potato, and actually turned to the sweet potato. Hence, proving Capy indeed did not prefer apples.

6. Display Four



Display was then almost completely changed again. So as to ensure Capy cannot follow the same route. And this is what i dissscover :

Capy was sniffing around. And seems to really dislike the jackfruit skin. She then went for sweet potato, placed at the side and started munching happily.

8. Display Five





Similarly, i switched the position of both sweet potato and tapioca. And the capy INDEED, followed same route and started munchin on the tapioca.

9. Display Six



Finally i poured out both sweet potato and tapioca. And placed them alternately side by side. Capy released. Went straight for nearest sweet potato/tapioca and munch munch munch >< Within mintutes, All sweet potato and tapioca were eaten uuupp!

Hence! therefore. Capybara, i think, does not have a preference between sweet potato and tapioca. But definitely liked both of that more to any other food. So. Maybe another experiment when i have enough time and am crazy enough.
